for a german webpage I want the formvalidation error messages, which are localized in the safecracker_lang.php translated into german. So what is the cleanest way to do this. Is there a way to add a safecracker_lang.php in german into the safecracker language folder and trigger the load of the file in the program or what is the best way to do that ?

Sure, just create a german folder in the language folder of safecracker, in inside add your custom safecracker_lang.php file with german error messages. Also, you must set your site’s default language to german.
