We’re working hard on the EE 2.1 compatible release of CartThrob. To this end, we’re no longer actively engaged in adding new features to CartThrob, we’re now focused on finishing up promised features and gateways, maintenance and bug fixes of the current version, so that we can focus on the EE 2.1 compatible version of CartThrob. When we have the 2.1 compatible version ready, we will announce here on the site, and on twitter @cartthrob. Below you’ll find notes about upgrade costs and info.
For New Purchasers:
EE 2.1 still ships with 1.6x as an available option, so you can still buy and use CartThrob. When we complete the 2.1 compatible version, you will be able to download the new version at no extra cost.
For existing CartThrob Owners
Anyone that purchased CartThrob before 7-10-2010 will be able to purchase the EE 2.1x compatible version of CartThrob for $49.99 when we release it. For now there are no upgrades available to purchase on the site. We will add an upgrade option when we release the 2.1 compatible version of CartThrob.
Timing
We have no specific timing for CartThrob 2.1 compatible version, but it will launch before EE stops supporting 1.6x. As we nail down a specific date, we will announce it.
Compatibility
We do not plan to change our tags. Anything you create for the 1.6x version of CartThrob will not require any refactoring (other than what EE 2.1 requires) For instance, add_to_cart_form will stay “add_to_cart_form” for the future.
