Multi Currency in CartThrob 2

I’m looking at CartThrob for a new client that’s going to be selling online in Australia and the US.

What are the multi-currency options and features available on CT2? Is it possible for users to select a ‘preferred’ currency? Can currency conversion be done on-the-fly? How are multiple currencies handled on the back-end?

Thanks!!

Will you be setting 2 different prices, one for each location? Or do you just want to have dynamic conversion of pricing based on one local price.

The client would prefer to have one currency/price entered, with dynamic price conversion if that’s possible.

Dynamic price conversion’s possible, but our current implementation is not my favorite. It’s something I’ve been meaning to address for some time… it’s a bit slow. It’s usable, just slow.

I think dynamic price conversion is good to display prices, but it’s better not to trust those converted prices (as far as I’m concerned) to actually charge the customer you know? I don’t like the idea personally of trusting a third party to changing my prices under the hood. But… it could be done. You can pass in prices via the price parameter… so you can change prices on the fly, and pass them into the system.
